Targeted by accusations of pedophilia since the 1990s, Michael Jackson had been firmly defended by his ex-wife Debbie Rowe, in an interview cited by The Mirror on Thursday, May 14.
Disappeared for over ten years, Michael Jackson remains a controversial myth. In 1993, Jordan Chandler was the first – along with his father – to accuse the King of Pop of pedophilia. He was 13 years old. Since then, the scandal has heavily splashed the image of the artist, who died on June 25, 2009 of a cardiac arrest. Controversy that has not weakened since other men, now adults, accused the singer of similar facts, especially in the shock documentary Leaving Neverland. But if the interpreter of Billie Jean unworthy some, others continue to defend it in the face of these allegations. Such was the case with his ex-wife, Debbie Rowe. This Thursday 14 May, our British colleagues from Mirror unearthed an interview with the latter, first exhumed in 2009 after the death of Michael Jackson.
During this interview, broadcast as a special called The Debbie Rowe Interview: The Missing Tapes, the mother of Paris Jackson flew to the aid of the ex-member of Jackson 5. She then reacted to the outcry sparked by a documentary by Martin Bashir, in which the deceased confessed to spending nights alone with young boys. She had divorced from Michael Jackson four years ago. “Yes, boys go out with other boys … I’m not his mother. I didn’t see anything abnormal on this subject“, deplored Debbie Rowe, “how would people see it if it was me ? (…) Would they say it is inappropriate?“In his eyes, the King had been the victim of”preconceptions that are absolutely incorrect.“Before continuing, when her interlocutor asked her if she trusted the singer with her own children:”it is their father and it is not not a pedophile.“It is impossible for her to imagine her ex-husband in such a position.”I’m tired of hearing it (…) I am tired of lies. I’m tired of this m ****.“
Debbie Rowe, an absent mother for Paris and Michael Joseph
As a reminder, Debbie Rowe shared the life of Michael Jackson for three years, from 1996 to 1999. From this love were born two children, Paris Jackson but also Michael Joseph Jackson. Children whose custody she had given up in exchange for big amount of money. In 2014, however, she had tried to return to the life of her daughter and son. Mother absent, Debbie Rowe then took a step towards Paris Jackson in 2019, when the latter officially launched into music.
