The cause of a world without nuclear warheads chose to defend once again the American actor Michael Douglas.
The round table of experts in Washington was organized precisely by the Hollywood star. The event featured former senators Sam Nunn and Chuck Hagel, a Republican who criticized the war in Iraq, and Robert Gallucci, a former diplomat who in 1994 led nuclear negotiations with North Korea. Michael Douglas had already spoken out against civilian nuclear power in the 1979 film China Syndrome because of the dangers of nuclear power plants. At the roundtable, Douglas asked Hagel whether the Obama administration had given the nuclear-weapon states a chance to reform. The husband of the beauty Catherine Zeta Jones asked Nunn to talk about his conversations with Obama on this issue. Gallucci expressed his conviction that there will be rapprochement between the US and Russia. The expert, however, expressed concern over rising tensions in Pakistan.
