Michael Bay in talks to direct Will Smith in Netflix action movie Fast and Looseas confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Fast and Loose centers on a crime boss who loses his memory after an attack and gradually learns that he was leading a double life as a CIA agent. Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson worked on the script.
The film has been in the works since before Smith’s slap at Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony. At the time, David Leitch left the project a week before the Oscar broadcast to start working on The specialistthe action comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt that Universal released in May.
Bay already directed Smith in the action comedy Two rebel police officers (1995) and in its 2003 sequel. Smith and Martin Lawrence recently played their characters from the franchise in its latest sequel, Bad Boys: Ride or Diewhich Sony released in theaters in June. That movie helped Reclaim Smith’s position as in-demand movie star after Oscars crash.
