After the mega blockbuster “Black Panther”, Michael B. Jordan allegedly wants to work on a Black Superman series.
Michael B. Jordan (34) takes the scepter into his own hands. Like the industry magazine „Collider“ reports, the actor is planning a huge project with the US streaming platform HBO Max.
It is said that Superstar wants to develop his own Black Superman series.
Val-Zod-Series
The website claims to have learned from a secret source that Michael B. Jordan and his production company Outlier Society have already hired a writer to write the script.
The story is supposed to be about the superhero Val-Zod. It was a black Superman from the DC comic universe.
I would definitely rather see a #ValZod Superman limited series than a black Clark Kent movie. pic.twitter.com/sdz7jA0J3i

Probably in the lead role himself
It is already rumored that the Hollywood superstar himself will take on the leading role – which would be obvious. However, this is pure speculation, because so far Michael B. Jordan has left absolutely nothing to say about it. The source only wants to know for sure that he is producing the series.
Competitive project by JJ Abrams
Incidentally, it’s not just that planning „Black Panther“-Star a Black Superman production. Also „Star Wars“Icon JJ Abrams (55) and his company Bad Robot have been hired by Warner Bros. for a very similar project.
The blockbuster will not be about Val-Zod, but about his stepbrother Kal-El / Clark Kent. Although the character is traditionally portrayed as white in the DC Comics, the character is said to be played by a black actor in the Bad Robot production. The film is likely to be directed by a black filmmaker as well, as Abrams is only intended to be a producer. The renowned author and cultural critic Ta-Nehisi Coates (45) is already working hard on the script for the project.
Criticism of the Warner Bros. project
The film critic Jamie Broadnax has already criticized JJ Abrams’ project that it would be inappropriate „giving a white character a different skin color, missing the chance to tell the stories of the black characters that already exist in the DC Universe under the Superman banner – Calvin Ellis and Val-Zod“.
