The singer-songwriter and reference of root music from the North of Argentina, Micaela Chauque, presented her album “Jallalla” on Saturday at the Miter Theater in our capital, in her first show with the presence of the public in times of the coronavirus pandemic.
The recital at the Jujuy coliseum featured a new group of musicians who accompanied the outstanding artist, who also presented unpublished songs.
Micaela Chauque thus reissued the live presentation of her album “Jallalla”, with which she obtained the Gardel Award for Best Folk Album by a Female Artist in 2019 and gained a national presence.
“El Milagroso”, “I have bagualas”, “Coplas y romance de viento y quena” were some of the works that sounded at night in Jujuy in a free show with limited capacity at the initiative of the provincial Ministry of Culture.
“It is my first big presentation in a pandemic”, celebrated Chauque in relation to the recital that lasted for an hour, adding that “the artists were the most affected at this time.”
“Considering culture as something not necessary seems to me a detriment to our work because I believe that art is necessary for society and more in this area where we take care of our traditions, artists are essential,” he said about the artists’ stand during the pandemic contingency.
Mallku Machaca (guitar), Joel Alancay (bass), Eliseo Álvarez Prado (charango) and Ramiro Cardozo (drums) accompanied the coplera. The show also featured the presentation of the Jujuy Ballet and a staging that combined multicolored lights to emulate the landscapes of the Quebrada with their unmistakable sounds. After the presentation, the artist moved to a peña in the capital on Senador Pérez Street for a new presentation for fans who could not attend the public recital.
