Jannik gets rid of the Finn in two sets and just over an hour of play: 6-3 6-2. Now he is awaited by the winner of Fritz-Bublik
Another feat of Jannik Sinner (# 31 Atp) who in Miami in the round of 16 defeated the 21-year-old Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori (# 83) 6-3 6-2. Once again a proof of great maturity for our talent that has not really conceded anything to the opponent.

Now the blue will meet the winner of Fritz-Bublik in the quarters who are about to take the field.

THE MATCH – The 21-year-old from Helsinki, world number 83, who trains with Italian coach Federico Ricci, had won the only previous one, played in the second round of the Canberra challenger in 2020. The match started 35 minutes late for a a problem with the Hawk Eye system that has not been solved: in fact, the line judges in flesh and blood have reappeared on the field. The inconvenience certainly unnerved the two players, who both lost their serve in the first two games of the match, first the blue and then the Finnish. The tactical canvas of the two is very similar, and the game runs in photocopy and without great concessions to the show: aggression with the shots from the bottom to open the corners. In the seventh game Jannik concedes another break point but cancels it with an impregnable right along the line, then completes the work with two other winners (4-3). From that moment Sinner rises to the chair, showing once again the extraordinary ability to grasp the decisive moments of the match and consequently to raise the level: break for the 5-3 and then closure of the partial. In the second fraction Emil continues to play the same tennis as Jannik, but with a much lower quality: in the third game with a double fault he concedes a ball-break that Sinner exploits, launching himself towards a success after all without problems. He is the fourth blue in the quarters in Miami after Caratti in 1991, Nargiso in 1992 and Fognini in 2017 (semifinal) and waiting for Sonego who in the night challenges Tsitsipas.
