One day after achieving their first win of the season after eight straight losses, the Miami Marlins bit the dust again this Monday, this time with a 7-0 shutout in New York Yankees territory. Mexican players Alex Verdugo and José Treviño were part of the starting line-up of the Bronx Bombers.
The Dominican Juan Soto and the American Anthony Volpe catapulted a three-run home run each and the Cuban left-handed pitcher Néstor Cortés offered quality work from the mound in the tenth outing of both teams in the current season of the Major Leagues.
Soto hit his second home run of the season and his first in full Yankee Stadium. Cuban Cortés (1-1), called upon to replace the injured Gerrit Cole, worked eight innings in which he gave up two hits, did not allow walks and struck out six batters.
