Miami authorities force Otaola to hand over all his firearms – 2024-02-16 15:59:23

Cuban influencer Alexander Otaola was forced by a judge’s order to hand over all his firearms to the authorities in Miami, Florida.

The order came from a Miami-Dade County judge, who placed a restraining order against Otaola after the YouTuber received a lawsuit from an individual with whom he has barely been related.

Through his social networks, the presenter of Morning person He expressed his indignation at the measure ordered by the judge, describing it as “absurd,” but ensuring that he would carry it out without regard to avoid problems.

The presenter made a live broadcast on his Instagram account, where he explained what the court orders against him imply and clarified that he only uses his weapons for shooting practice.

Otaola, who is also campaigning for mayor of Miami-Dade County, said he suspects that behind the restraining order imposed on him lies an attempt to sabotage his candidacy, since the plaintiff is related to his opponents.

The influencer expressed his concern about what he considers “an improper use of the law to persecute him politically.” He maintains that due to his marked criticism of the Cuban regime and communism in general, he has earned himself the target of sympathizers of the dictatorship in Miami, some of whom have even been publicly denounced by him.

In that sense, he recalled past incidents where he felt threatened and did not receive the same level of judicial protection, therefore, he demands respect for his right to bear arms as a protection measure.

The mayoral candidate ended his message on social media by clarifying that, although his weapons are temporarily in custody, he has not been prohibited from possessing them, and he invited them to support him at the next court hearing.

On February 16, a hearing will be held to determine the future of the restraining order, and there Otaola will have the opportunity to present his defense.

Alexander Otaola is one of the 61 Cubans in exile who were recently classified as “terrorists” by the Cuban government.

In addition to Otaola, there are also the names of Manuel Milanés, Eliecer Ávila, Alain Lambert Sánchez (Cuban Paparazzi), Jorge Ramón Batista Calero (Ultrack), Ninoska Pérez Castellón, and Liudmila Santiesteban Cruz (Liu Santiesteban).
