The European Union expects Russia to recognize its responsibility and fully cooperate, said Josep Borrell.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell made a statement on behalf of the bloc countries on the eve of the seventh anniversary of the disaster of flight MH17 in the skies over Donbass. This is reported Online Council of Europe on Friday 16 July.
As Borrell noted, seven years later, the EU remains deeply sympathetic to all those who have lost loved ones and is willing to support efforts to bring truth and justice to the 298 victims of the MH17 disaster and bring those responsible to justice.
“Referring to its previous statements, the European Union takes note of all the steps that have been taken in this regard and expects Russia to recognize its responsibility and fully cooperate with efforts to establish accountability, including through negotiations with Australia. and the Netherlands, “Borrell said.
Earlier on Friday, Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova made a statement on the eve of the anniversary of the downing of flight MH17 over Donbass. She spoke about the progress of the investigation into the disaster, as well as the trial in the case, which is taking place in the Netherlands.
