MGPA’s Response to Dirty Circuits at the Mandalika MotoGP Test

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Deputy Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Cahyadi Wanda gave a response about the dirty circuit when Mandalika MotoGP testFriday (11/2).

“The weather is indeed cloudy, windy, the track has been cleaned and is very normal. The condition of the track that has not been used for a long time is like that, especially when it is added to the rain,” said Cahyadi on Live Instagram MGPA account, Friday (11/2).

He said the weather at the circuit which had been raining all night affected the track conditions. In addition, there is also a circuit factor that has not been used for a long time after the World Superbike (WSBK) event a few months ago made the track dusty.

Even so, he claimed that there were no serious problems due to the dirty track this time. He assured that the agenda for the first day of the Mandalika MotoGP test was relatively safe.

“So earlier we had a discussion with Capirossi from the FIM, he said the situation was quite safe. The asphalt was dirty? Capirossi said it was caused by two factors, namely the factor that this circuit last held a Superbike [sudah lama tak dipakai]so it is very common and normal for the circuit to have dust,” he said.

“Secondly, because it was raining so it was normal and there were no serious problems. It was cleaned well by the team on the pitch.”

The dirty circuit has made a number of compact MotoGP teams upload various content on their social media. The Suzuki Ecstar team on their Instagram account showed off Joan Mir’s shoes full of mud in the team’s garage.

Suzuki also uploaded Mir’s GSX-RR motorcycle which was full of mud on the back. They had to clean the iron horse of dirt.

Meanwhile, Repsol Honda uploaded a short video when one of the team’s crew cleaned Pol Espargaro’s shoes which were full of dirt.
