To have fun in the context right from the start – the cheapest VW ID.3 currently costs 1,110,900 CZK, for an electric Skoda Enyaq, prepare at least 1,239,900 CZK, and for example, you need at least 1,205,000 CZK for a Megane E-Tech.

It’s a fact that not only next to these mentioned competitors, the basic price tag of the MG4 looks like it’s from another world. But – while the concern duo starts with a battery with a capacity of 58 kWh and the electric Renault offers 60 kWh, the four have to basically use 51 kWh, which should mean some 350 km of driving range. You may have already registered a range of 450 km according to the WLTP methodology on TV and on billboards, but you can only achieve that with a larger 64kWh battery, and we are talking about a price of at least CZK 884,960. However, just look a few lines above and even this amount still looks more than attractive.

The power of the electric motor varies according to the battery used – the smaller one uses a 125 kW variant, with a larger battery you can improve it to 150 kW, the rear wheels are always driven, it is said that a four-wheeler is being considered in the future. MG is particularly proud of its low battery, 110 millimeters should be a record. It is also worth noting the more than acceptable weight, just under 1.7 tons, which is a great result for an electric car.

Are you waiting for the favorable price tag to show up inside? I would not say. If I had to compare with the original ID.3, which was more reminiscent of Dacia products than VW, the MG4 is definitely higher. The simple and clean instrument panel is certainly not embarrassing, but it is true that the mentioned ID.3 has improved a lot after the facelift and I would currently rank it above the MG4. But don’t get me wrong – the interior of the MG4 is pleasant, well-made and actually quite cozy, I only struggled a bit with the rotary selector of driving modes. I will add the volume of the luggage compartment, you can put 363 liters in the trunk.

Official sales start on the first of June, until then we have to wait for a complete overview of the equipment in order to have a complete and fair comparison with the closest competitors. Don’t worry, we will write! At the moment, we know about adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, seven-inch digital display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto or seventeen-inch alloy wheels. The Czech importer also emphasizes the factory warranty for seven years or 150,000 km.
