At the Geneva Motor Show, a wider range of interested parties can familiarize themselves with MG Motors’ newest model, the MG3, which is also intended for the European market.
MG Motors is already represented in Europe with several models, the latest addition having its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, which opens its doors again after a long gap of four years.
This year’s show is under-represented, with almost every major carmaker taking a detour, so Britain’s MG Motors, now owned by China’s SAIC, is a welcome exception.
MG has brought several new products to Geneva and one of them is the second generation MG3 model – a 4.11 m long and 2.57 m wheelbase hatchback equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, an electric motor, a starter-generator and a small 1.83 kilowatt-hour battery. The total power of the hybrid unit is 194 hp, which allows you to reach 100 km/h in 8 seconds.
The car’s interior has a 7-inch digital display for the driver’s gauges, as well as a 10.25-inch multimedia device screen from the MG4/MG5. The driver has several driving modes at his disposal, including fully electric, LED headlights, smartphone integration, navigation, air conditioning, six-speaker audio system, four USB ports, rear parking sensors and a camera. The equipment of the most expensive packages also includes leather upholstery, keyless entry, heated seats and steering wheel, MG Pilot with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning system and traffic jam assistant.
The curb weight of the MG3 is 1285 kilograms, and the volume of the luggage compartment is 293 liters.
The manufacturer has indicated that the MG3 with a hybrid device will become available on the European market in the second quarter of 2024.
