“The federal coalition agreement opts for clarity, affordability and certainty. The closure of the nuclear power plants paves the way for the necessary acceleration of renewable energy. Each study indicates that this is the way to go. Delaying the problem isn’t serious. After 17 years of delay, it is now time to move forward. ” That says Groen chairwoman Meyrem Almaci on Saturday in a response to the statements of N-VA chair Bart De Wever about the federal energy plans.

Groen points to the “enormous responsibility” of the Flemish government under the leadership of the N-VA. “Flanders is lagging behind enormously with regard to its energy and climate objectives. The share of energy from wind and sun really needs to increase. Moreover, Flanders has the exclusive competence to take measures for energy saving, essential for a good energy policy. The shortage that Flanders now has should be an impulse to do better together, not to lecture others. Time to sweep in front of your own door, ”says Groen.
