The agency indicated that the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Luis Rosendo Gutiérrez Romano, began to hold meetings with his American and Canadian counterparts, as well as the business sector of the two nations, in order to provide certainty, resolve doubts about the state of the market labor and macroeconomic of the country, among other priority issues.
The SE explained that the specific objective of the visit to both nations “is to demonstrate Mexico’s commitment to being a strategic ally to face challenges and opportunities on the international stage, and to strengthen North America as the most dynamic and competitive region. of the world, in accordance with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard.”
He added that in Ottawa, together with Ambassador Carlos Joaquín González, Undersecretary Gutiérrez Romano will meet with his counterpart Rob Stewart, Undersecretary of Foreign Trade of Canada, Aaron Fowler, Associate Deputy Minister and Deputy Commissioner of Trade, and the Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada, in order to “discuss opportunities for investment and innovation in supply chains”, particularly in strategic areas such as semiconductors, mining, energy and biotechnology.
In Toronto, the official will speak with private sector associations in that city, such as the Council of the Americas of Canada, to review the areas of opportunity in Mexico that have been identified by Canadian investors in common supply chains.
In New York he will meet with companies that have recently shown interest in expanding their operations or investing in Mexican territory, such as Goldman Sachs and Global Infrastructure Partners. “The objectives are to provide certainty, resolve doubts about the state of the country’s labor and macroeconomic market, provide guidance regarding the legal and logistical process for commercial operations, as well as listen to proposals for improvement to our assistance framework to provide better step-by-step support. step by step to the materialization of investments,” said the SE.
In Washington he will meet with Cara Morrow, from the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR); Undersecretaries Michael Kaplan and Paul Rosen of the Treasury Department; Grant Harris, deputy secretary of the Department of Commerce; inter alia.
“They will discuss issues to improve economic coordination and promote better integrated value chains in the region, address infrastructure challenges for cross-border trade, as well as explore opportunities for cooperation and trade within the framework of the T-MEC,” the agency said.
