Mexico will have its vaccine against Covid-19 for this year: Health

Before the year is out, the country could have its own vaccine against Covid-19 developed by Mexican scientists, said the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer Varela.

It is about the effort that has started Autonomous University of Queretaro, which is moving forward and heading towards clinical trials.

During the first ordinary meeting of the National Health Council (Conasa), the head of the SSa said that this has been achieved in an accelerated time in an immediate process to be able to develop vaccines with safety, efficiency and efficacy.

“Everywhere and in our country, scientific participation in the search for this vaccine has been started in months, possibly before the end of this year it will be possible to have a vaccine made in Mexico that will be able to accompany other efforts,” he said.

“Although some will already be being evaluated and move on to phase four where the effect that we are receiving and of course the health secretaries, the workers in relation to the evaluation of the vaccines will be helping as was part of the agreements that were They have achieved”.

At a press conference, the director general of Health Promotion of the federal agency, Ricardo Cortés Alcalá, said that the vaccine has made some progress and that it is seeking to have multiple sources of financing through Amexcid.

It is the only study in the country that has obtained a record of this nature.

“Hopefully this year is enough for the results of the studies they do at the university give enough to go out to do clinical trials,” he said.
