The Foreign Minister and State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China also expressed his belief that, under López Obrador’s leadership, Mexico “will certainly prevail over the pandemic at an early date.”
Other topics that were discussed were the arrival of Mexico to the United Nations Security Council on a non-permanent basis, to which China expressed its support. The development of the China-Community Forum of Latin American and Caribbean States was also discussed, which has been driven by Mexico from the pro tempore presidency of the organization.
Last April, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador held a call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where he outlined the direction of cooperation against the two countries against the pandemic and paid for the development of bilateral relations.
Two weeks ago, on December 14, the Mexican ambassador to China, José Luis Bernal, presented an evaluation of the Comprehensive Strategic Association between the two countries, before 80 senior Chinese government officials.
