The Mexican government will suspend until May 6, the visa request for Peruvian citizens seeking to travel to the Aztec country, a measure that was going to come into effect on April 20 according to the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
“As of May 6, 2024, every Peruvian national with an ordinary passport will need a visa to enter Mexico. This new date replaces the previous announcement of the validity of the measure as of April 20,” reads the official document.

The reason given by the Mexican administration for suspending the measure was that it is necessary to adjust the details for the application of the restriction on the entry of Peruvians to said country.
As recalled, Mexico indicated that it was adopting the restriction due to the number of Peruvians entering its country to illegally cross the border with the United States, which is why it considered it necessary to reform its immigration policies.
