The holder of the SEP, Esteban Moctezuma Barragan, defended the back to distance classes and the beginning of school cycle 2020-2021; He hoped that the country would move forward in a scheme of collective effort.
At a press conference, the official acknowledged that the distance education scheme that will start this Monday represented a challenge and a great effort. He said the country decided to return to the classroom and continue educating children even though many nations did not do the same.
“Today we see it naturally but I can tell you that none of us studied to see how to educate oneself in a pandemic,” he said at a press conference.

“Mexico responded with extraordinary measures that have managed to maintain the course of public education, which maintained learning and the relationship between students and teachers. While there are countries that canceled the school year, they said ‘see you next year, all approved and learning closes’ Mexico continued with learning under the conditions in which we are, making the greatest and best effort possible “.
He asked parents to create a strict schedule for their children to take classes as if they were going to school, even if they are at a distance; have a space in the house dedicated to school work; and accompany them to the extent that their jobs allow them.
He said that when children can return to face-to-face classes and schools are able to open, the return will be made in three stages of a mixed education model to maintain a healthy distance and to make a diagnostic evaluation that indicates in what conditions the children return to school.

“There will be families that can give their children the means to learn, the space, the love and the necessary support, they will be able to learn in a suitable environment. There are other families with problems of all kinds that cannot give their children the environment. they will need. They will arrive at school in different situations. We must have sensitivity for a personalized treatment, they will have to evaluate each child to know how they return, “he said.
He anticipated that at that time the groups will be divided, so that half go a few days and the other half go the rest of the week; while the children furthest behind will have special support on Fridays.
He also stressed that there will be a Distance Pedagogical Support Center, which will be a support number with 160 telephone lines and there they will be able to consult any questions they have regarding their classes.
