Mexico reports 2,500 infections and 22 deaths in one day – El Financiero

In the last 24 hours, Mexico reported 2 thousand 500 infections and 22 deaths by COVID-19.

According to the technical report of the Health Secretary, As of this Monday, August 8, Mexico accumulates 6,859,970 positive cases and 328,342 deaths from the virus.

The 2,500 cases this Monday represent the third smallest number of infections registered in one day from June 7, the date on which the Ministry of Health reissued the daily technical reports on COVID.

To this day they have been detected 94 thousand 887 active cases of COVID-19, same that are found predominantly in the following entities: Mexico City, Baja California Sur, San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala, Aguascalientes, Coahuila, Colima, Querétaro, Sinaloa and Guanajuato.

It is the first time in weeks that Mexico reports a number of estimated active COVID cases less than 100,000 units.

The previous parameter is not represented by the total number of cases only, but rather a reference is made between the number of active cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Mexico City continues as the entity with the most active cases of COVID in the country, reporting to the cut of this Sunday 17 thousand 909. This figure represents more than a sixth of the total cases in Mexico.


The State of Mexico is the second entity with the most active cases, with 7,518, while Guanajuato and Nuevo León report more than 5,500.

Active cases are considered to be those positives that started symptoms in the last 14 days, allowing to identify where there is greater viral activity and increased transmission of the virus.

On the confirmed cases accumulated by state, the Top 10 entities that accumulate the highest number of cases They are: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tabasco, Puebla and Sonora, which together make up 65 percent.
