The generational change of the Mexican National Team
Duilio Davino, general director of selections, pointed out that he does not know the reason why a generational change was not made in the past, but he pointed out that this was the ideal time to take that step.
“I don’t know why it wasn’t done before. When Jaime enters, he enters with an assembled list and then four FIFA dates for this decision to be made and which was made by us,” he declared.
For his part, Jaime Lozano mentioned that he considered this change after the setbacks he suffered in the Nations League.
“Defeats make you think about things. When we won the gold cup or victory against Germany we didn’t see it that way either. You have to learn to avoid making those mistakes and it means thinking in the medium and long term. Think about processes, beyond the results and you have to have courage to make the decisions that are made. I appreciate that very much. Each one will know that they will fight and those who are not there will continue to be there as long as they demonstrate in clubs that they can play a game,” said Jaime Lozano.
Why wasn’t Memo Ochoa called?
The coach of the Mexican National Team explained the absence of Guillermo Ochoa, who was not considered for the Copa América.
“I have a good relationship with him, it is so clear, it is the ideal tournament to see people raising their hands and have this larger universe for what is to come. With Memo, talk on the phone, find out his situation, tell him that the decision is this, it is supported by everyone, so that you know that you are not out, we want to see players who are raising their hands. There are U23 players that we would have loved to have here, having a strong column in this tournament,” commented Jaime Lozano.
