While Mexico is expected reach the peak of COVID-19 infections in May and that critical days of the fight against the virus be lived, Vito asks that special attention be paid to prevent cases from soaring among Mexicans with fewer resources, because this could lead to the saturation of the hospital system.
“What would I say to Mexico City? This can affect everyone, and if this begins to affect the people who have less, hold on there, ”he says.
In Mexico, federal and local health authorities have issued similar calls, urging the population to follow the social distancing and hygiene measures considered key to prevent infections.
Since his confinement in New York, Vito says that to cope with the confinement he and his girlfriend, who works at Uber, have sought to establish a routine. This includes servicing their respective jobs remotely, exercising, going out only for essential activities — such as taking their dogs out and shopping for groceries — and finding a hobby away from a computer screen. Vito recognizes that this confinement becomes difficult, but he also knows that it is due to a problem that took the whole world by surprise.
“I think it is a situation that no one of our generation or our parents had experienced. So for many it is a shock ”, he admits.
