Mexico on Wednesday exceeded 10 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19, which has inoculated more than half of the elderly in the country.
Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary of Health, specified in a press conference that seven million 155 thousand 866 older adults have received a dose of said biological, while 760,957 have received both injections.
“This makes a little more than half of the elderly,” said the federal official.
The country applied this Wednesday, until a cut made at 4:00 p.m., 314 thousand 666 new doses vaccine against the coronavirus, so the total amounted to 10 million 89 thousand 420 inoculations, according to the Ministry of Health.
This Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported that 434 thousand 830 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the Chinese company Cansino were delivered, which are packaged in the laboratory of the Drugmex firm in Querétaro. The federal agency detailed that this is the second batch that is delivered of the aforementioned vaccine, in addition to the fact that Mexico is the only country in Latin America that packages this biological.
The country is in phase one of the vaccination plan against COVID-19, focused mainly on older adults. The “start-up” was aimed at first-line medical personnel, that is, health workers who directly treat the disease, who continue to receive second doses.
