Mexico Demands Immediate Release of Mexican Hostages Held by Hamas in UN Address

Mexico demanded that the Hamas group immediately release the Mexican hostages it still holds in its custody.

The request was made during Mexico’s participation in the tenth special emergency session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) to talk about the situation in Palestinian territories.

Mexico’s call adds to the immediate and lasting cessation of hostilities in all occupied Palestinian territories.

Above all, direct or indirect attacks against civilians and establishing a humanitarian corridor.

The Charge d’Affaires at the Permanent Representation of Mexico to the UN, Ambassador Alicia Buenrostro, stressed that the Israeli response to the attacks has left thousands dead and injured.

At the assembly, an immediate and lasting humanitarian truce was also requested, along with the cessation of hostilities.

Mexico asked that “Israel’s legitimate security concerns be addressed, and allow the consolidation of the politically and economically viable State of Palestine, which coexists with Israel within secure and internationally recognized borders, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in a statement.
