Mexico registered this Wednesday the highest increase in infections in the third wave of COVID, with 19 thousand 28 cases.
According to daily report from the Ministry of Health, 2 million 790 thousand 874 infections have been confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic, and it is currently estimated that there are 117 thousand 368 active cases (3.9%).

Mexico City has the highest number of active cases (33,692), followed by the State of Mexico (11,530), Jalisco (6,347), Nuevo León (5,737) and Veracruz (4,622).
With 537 new deaths, the country reached 239 thousand 616 deaths from the disease, and there are 12 thousand 290 suspected deaths.
The authorities indicated that there was a 20% increase in COVID cases between weeks 27 and 28 of the year. So far 2 million 181 thousand 291 people have recovered.

At the national level, the hospital occupancy of general beds is 43%, while that of beds with a fan is 36%.

More than 44 million vaccinated
This Tuesday, one million 453 thousand 638 vaccines against COVID were applied in Mexico, for which there are 63 million 313 thousand 209 reported in total.
Health indicated that 44 million 188 thousand 943 people have been immunized: of them 24 million 856 thousand 170 have received the complete scheme, and 19 million 332 thousand 773 only the first dose.
The National Vaccination Strategy has reported that 49% of the population over 18 years of age has already been vaccinated. The states in which the most progress has been made are Baja California (79%), Mexico City (76%) and Baja California Sur (75%). The entities with the lowest doses applied are Puebla (26%), Chiapas (29%) and Campeche (33%).
