(CNN Spanish) – Mexico received its first shipment this Thursday with 804,000 thousand vaccines against covid-19 for children between 5 and 11 years old, from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNTech, the Ministry of Health reported in a statement.
The Secretariat indicated that another shipment with 1,200,000 additional doses will arrive in the country on Friday as “part of the strategy to guarantee sufficient vaccines for children in Mexico.”

Mexico began last week to register children between the ages of 5 and 11 to receive the vaccines and this Thursday President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said at a press conference that “a considerable number” of minors had already been registered.
At the same conference, the president later showed a slide specifying that to date there were 3,015,979 children registered to receive the vaccine.
The president added that vaccinations for children between the ages of 5 and 11 could begin “this weekend, at the latest next week.”
