MEXICO CITY, June 12 (EL UNIVERSAL).- The Triple Crown of motorsports was painted green, white and red, thanks to Mexican drivers Sergio “Checo” Pérez, Pato O’Ward and Roberto González.
The circuits that make up the triple crown of motorsport are the Monaco Grand Prix in Formula 1, in IndyCar it is the Indianapolis 500 and in the endurance championship it is the 24 Hours of Lemans.
During this 2022 the Mexican flag was on the podium of the top three races.
Sergio Pérez finished in first place at the Monaco GP, Pato O’Ward finished the Indianapolis 500 in second place and Roberto González finished in first place at LeMans.
MONACO GRAND PRIX
Sergio Pérez was proclaimed champion of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Mexican took over the circuit from lap 22 and meant his third victory in Formula 1.
That time the Mexican started from third position and as the laps passed, Checo Pérez reached first place and after his victory declared that “It’s a dream come true, you always dream of winning here.”
INDIANAPOLIS 500 MILES
Mexican Pato O’Ward who competes in IndyCar with McLaren finished second in the Indianapolis 500.
O’Ward was close to the lead, however, the Swede Marcus Ericsson managed to contain him in the last four laps, where the Mexican shortened his advantage.
24 HOURS OF LEMANS
Roberto González, a Mexican driver who belongs to Jota Sport, was crowned in the 24 hours of LeMans in the LMP2 class.
González teamed up with Will Stevens and Felix Da Costa, “We were given the victory, this is for Mexico, we are happy,” the Mexican told Mortosport LATAM.
