Mexicans recovered from COVID-19 invited to donate plasma

The Ministry of Health of the Mexico state invites the population that has recovered from COVID-19 to donate plasma to help save lives.

The use of blood plasma consists of extracting antibodies against the COVID-19 of patients who overcame the disease and apply them to patients infected by this virus who are in serious condition.

Donating these blood components is for the purpose of helping other patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and reduce mortality from this disease.

Through plasma donation, the aim is to develop a possible treatment that strengthens the immune system of seriously ill patients by transferring antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, from those people who have recovered from the disease.

The Secretary of Health of the State of Mexico invites the population that has recovered from COVID-19 to donate plasma to help save lives.

Who can donate plasma?

People without the disease (COVID-19) active with at least 14 to 28 days after the disease.

Requirements

  • Proof of positive PCR test a COVID-19
  • Complete recovery from 14 to 28 days
  • Not having received blood transfusions
  • In the case of women, not having had more than two pregnancies
