Mexicans are the ones who emigrate the most in Latin America | ECONOMY

Mexico It is the Latin American country with the highest number of people who emigrate in search of a better future.

According to information from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), by 2020, 11.2 million Mexicans had left their country, and 97% of them resided in USA.

The second place in terms of emigration is registered by Venezuela, a country facing a severe economic crisis.

The critical situation in Venezuela, under the government of Nicolás Maduro, has caused 5.1 million people to leave the country.

Colombia, Brazil and Haiti remain on the list of Latin American countries with the highest number of emigrants.

According to information from UNDESA and IOM compiled by Statista, Peru registered 1.5 million emigrants in 2020, more than double the number registered in Chile.

On the other hand, Argentina is the Latin American country with the highest number of immigrants (2.3 million), while Colombia and Chile occupy the second and third place, with 1.9 million and 1.6 million immigrants, respectively.

For its part, Peru welcomed 1.2 million immigrants last year according to the information published by Statista.
