Mexican Social Security Institute in Baja California Sur Hosts Altruistic Blood Donation Event

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Baja California Sur invites the general population to donate blood and save lives. Next Saturday the 14th, an altruistic blood donation event will be held at the General Hospital of the Zone with Family Medicine (HGZ/MF) No. 1, in the city of La Paz, reported the head of Medical Benefits, Dr. Marco Vinicio Jiménez. González de la Llave.

He pointed out that this activity was also carried out on October 7, so he thanked the people who came to donate blood altruistically, and pointed out that anyone who could not attend has the opportunity to do so this coming Saturday.

The established time when altruistic donors can come is Saturday at 7:00 to 8:30 in the morning; 450 milliliters extracted from a blood donor constitute help for three people, since platelets, plasma and red blood cells are obtained.

People interested in donating must meet the requirements, such as: fasting for at least four to six hours, being between 18 and 65 years old, as well as a minimum weight of 50 kilograms.

Health experts suggest the donor sleep for six to eight hours before the extraction, and not have consumed alcohol in the previous 72 hours.

For the IMSS in Baja California Sur it is of utmost importance to promote altruistic blood donation.
