The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Baja California Sur invites the general population to donate blood and save lives. The established time when altruistic donors can come is Saturday at 7:00 to 8:30 in the morning; 450 milliliters extracted from a blood donor constitute help for three people, since platelets, plasma and red blood cells are obtained.
People interested in donating must meet the requirements, such as: fasting for at least four to six hours, being between 18 and 65 years old, as well as a minimum weight of 50 kilograms.
Health experts suggest the donor sleep for six to eight hours before the extraction, and not have consumed alcohol in the previous 72 hours.
