According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), vaccines against COVID-19 are very effective and contribute significantly to limiting the transmission of the virus worldwide. However, no vaccine is 100 percent effective in preventing the disease, as there will always be a small percentage of fully vaccinated people who will continue to get sick, but despite this, symptoms are usually mild or do not occur in vaccinated people who become infected. .
According to PAHO, full protection from the vaccine begins 14 days after the administration of the second dose of the vaccine. So, a person can contract the virus immediately before or shortly after receiving the vaccine, and therefore will not be fully protected despite vaccination during this period.

PAHO shared that people who receive a primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine – that is, three doses – develop an immune response that provides between six and 12 months of protection against the condition.
Therefore, it is recommended that people try to apply the biological product once a year, so that there is less risk of becoming seriously ill due to the COVID-19 virus.
