Mexican Presidential Plane Sold to Build Hospitals in Poorest Areas

He reiterated that the money from the sale of this plane, for 1.68 billion pesos, will be used to build two hospitals, each with 80 beds, in the poorest areas of Mexico.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that the presidential plane was handed over to the government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

This Monday, May 15, the president said that the luxurious ship used by former president Enrique Peña Nieto is already in that Central Asian nation.

After being questioned about another complaint against him for calling last week to vote for all the candidates of the Fourth Transformation, including legislators to reach a qualified majority, the president diverted the subject to report on the delivery of the presidential plane, the past April 20, and which has already arrived in that republic.

He also emphasized the luxuries of the Boeing 787 plane, such as the one for 260 passengers, with a bedroom, and criticized the fact that they had called him “José María Morelos y Pavón.”

He pointed out that the money from the sale of this plane, for 1.68 billion pesos, will be used to build two hospitals, each with 80 beds, in the poorest areas of Mexico: in Tlapa, Guerrero, and in Tuxtepec, Oaxaca.

He recalled that it was acquired by the federal government during the administration of Felipe Calderón, with Enrique Peña being president.
