Mexico City. Mexico’s national soccer team will face Spanish club Valencia in October as part of its preparation for the 2026 World Cup, which it will host alongside the United States and Canada, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) reported on Friday.
The match will be played on October 12 at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium in Puebla, which was one of the venues for the 1986 World Cup.
“As part of our preparation for the 2026 World Cup, our national team will host Valencia,” the FMF reported.
“This match is a great opportunity to see our players take on one of the most traditional clubs in Spain. I’m sure it will be a great experience that will help our team prepare,” said FMF CEO Ivar Sisniega in a video posted on X.
Three days after playing against Valencia, the Tri will host the United States in a match that will be held at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Before facing Valencia and the United States, the Mexican team will play on Saturday against New Zealand, in the match that will mark the beginning of Javier Aguirre’s third stage as coach of the Tri after his appointment in August, and three days later he will face Canada. Both matches will be played in the United States.
