Aguirre will never say it openly, but the ‘Vasco’ will try to have 26 versions of ‘Vasco’ available as a footballer, but only as a footballer, because as a coach, with the Tri, he has a trail of more graves than altars.
Aguirre announced this Wednesday his call to appear in one more of the mill games that bring so much pleasure to the merchants of the FMF and the television stations. But the dilemmas of Aguirre and Rafa Márquez, thinking about 2026 and 2030, are just beginning.
1.- None of the three goalkeepers is completely reliable. Both Malagón and ‘Tala’ Rangel have made serious mistakes with their teams, and the former, even with El Tri. Álex Padilla? He is surely Márquez’s bet for 2030.
2.- In the defensive line, uncertainty. Will he play with a line of five? He has two who attack well and defend poorly: Alan Mozo and Jesús Gallardo, whose expiration date is approaching. In the centre, defenders who are lukewarm in intensity, slow, clumsy in trickery, and not very deep in the exit. But, in a line of five, well worked, at least there will be no ridiculous markers.
3.- The midfield, now with Edson, will gain strength. The problem is that it is full of players who have not yet reached the moment of explosion in the Tri. Neither Romo, nor Charly, nor Lira, and much less Córdova and Orbelín are a guarantee. Ambriz’s call is welcome, and it is necessary to light candles for Luis Chávez so that he does not get injured, because he is, dramatically, the only reliable midfielder on the left.
4.- Henry Martin returns to the attack and the question is whether ‘El Chaquito’ has already shaken off the toxic burden of El Tri. Roberto Alvarado is the best player for Chivas, which is not necessarily a guarantee. Quiñones will arrive without rhythm, and the inconsistency of Lainez and César Huerta could benefit Marcelo Flores. And Memote, for that reason, because there is no more.
Given the footballing level of these players, with more than two years of poor performances, both those called up and those absent, what is it enough for? Very little, just enough to continue giving forced smacks in Concacaf.

The hope of El Tri is strictly that, in the face of the impotence, the inability, the impossibility of transforming them into Messis or Cristianos, at least Aguirre can transfigure them into the best combative version of themselves. At least that, that the 26 “princesses” at least become modern versions of what the ‘Vasco’ was on the field, strictly, as a player.
And of course, we must wait, necessarily and urgently, for a notable and efficient strategic support from the rest of the coaching staff, including Rafa Márquez, because Javier Aguirre knows it well, he knows it very well, sometimes, on the blackboard, he runs out of neuronal chalk, and instead of solutions and cures, he chooses suicides, and that has already been made evident in two World Cups.
