Querétaro (Mexico), May 20 (EFE) García Escamilla revalidated the gold in the individual category and obtained the silver in the teams.
Already in 2022, García Escamilla, 23, stood out as the first Mexican to obtain gold in an international mathematics competition and bronze in teams.
The two-time world champion assured that competition is not a game for him and stressed that he considers himself a high-performance athlete, with the difference that his muscle is his brain.
García Escamilla, who is studying Physics Engineering at the Autonomous University of Querétaro and is about to graduate from his degree, took the opportunity to encourage youth not to hesitate to start their way in the same world of mathematical competitions, where each time there are fewer young people interested.
Likewise, he appealed to the Mexican authorities to provide the necessary support to young people interested in continuing to represent the Mexican nation, because currently “there are none.”
Although he is already thinking about his professional future, the two-time world champion in mathematics will prepare his last two competitions in this discipline: the University World Cup to be held in Bulgaria and the Ibero-American Inter-University Mathematics Competition to be held in Rio de Janeiro.
Additionally, it works on the creation of a teaching platform for children and young people.
“We are also going to have our own applications within the company, with teaching of mathematics, physics, chemistry, in an interactive system to help young people and children to better understand and learn mathematics and hard sciences in general” , he concluded.
