Mexican laboratory packages covid vaccine for 12 Latin American countries

With international standards endorsed by the main drug regulatory agencies in the world, in the municipality of Ocoyoacac, State of Mexico, the plant of the Liomont laboratories, that by next week it will have managed to package 77.4 million vaccines against covid-19 by AstraZeneca, with the objective of fulfilling the purchase commitment that the English pharmaceutical company signed with the Government of Mexico.

In a tour carried out by Excelsior, it was possible to witness that the packaging process of the biological, whose active substance, arrives in containers that maintain an ultra-freezing of -70 degrees Celsius, is carried out within rigorous processes for thawing, stabilization, filtration and filling of the vials, which, in their final application should be kept between -8 and -2 degrees C.

Enrique Zacatelco, deputy director of the Liomont Vaccine Plant, explained that within the more than 150 thousand square meters of these laboratories that are 100% Mexican, the area for packaging the vaccine is protected with strict sanitary controls, where more than 300 participate. specialists who carry out their work in an area of ​​filtered air which in turn guarantees the safety and efficiency of the AstraZeneca biological packaging.

We use the active substance that comes from the Argentine Abxience Laboratory, which we defrost to begin the entire formulation process. We are going to fill an isolator and then we review the particles and cosmetic review of the vials, the labeling and finally we are going to condition the cases or collective boxes of 10 units ”, he explained.

The Liomont plant has a monthly production of 15 to 18 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, which are distributed by the AstraZeneca laboratory in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama and Peru.
