The Mexican defensive lineman Isaac Alarcón has officially left the San Francisco 49ers roster this Monday after being released by team management in reducing the team’s roster from 90 to 53 players before the start of the 2024 NFL season.
Alarcón, who arrived under the parameters of the International Player Pathway, the NFL program with which the league seeks talent from all over the world and hopes that more nationalities will join any of the 32 teams, He was excluded after not making the cut despite having seen action in preseason with the 49ers.
The 26-year-old native of Monterrey, Mexico, had arrived in 2020 with the Dallas Cowboys under the international program and remained with them for three years, playing one preseason game, before signing with the 49ers on March 13.

Despite his efforts in the preseason, Alarcón will not make the official team and his next step is to remain on San Francisco’s practice squad or, failing that, look for another team that will give him the opportunity to officially debut in the NFL.
At the 49ers, Alarcón had the opportunity to join Mexican son Fred Warner, who serves as defensive captain and who has already played six seasons with the Bay Area team after debuting in 2018.
Dominican Bayron Matos was also excluded from Miami Dolphins
Dominican Bayron Matos was also one of the players affected by the roster cuts required by the NFL, as he was left off the Miami Dolphins roster for the upcoming 2024 season.
Matos, 23, was also part of the International Player Pathway and saw action in two preseason games for the Dolphins as a tackler.but his work in the end was not enough to please the coaching staff.
The Santo Domingo native will now have the opportunity, like Alarcón, to continue his internship or look for a new organization.
As for its history, Matos stood out at an early age as a baseball pitcher before leaving the Dominican Republic and emigrating to the United States at the age of 16. heading to Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. He later moved to the University of South Florida and established himself as one of the best defenders in his class.

Both Matos and Alarcón experienced the same situation with the cut as Chilean Sammis Reyes, who was also left off the Minnesota Vikings roster.
Unlike Matos and Alarcón, Reyes, 28, became the first Chilean to play in the NFL, making his debut in the 2021 season with the Washington Commanders, a team with which he participated in 11 plays.
