Mexican GP: Sainz wins in chaotic race, Norris second, Verstappen sixth!

The excitement of racing began when the five red lights went out at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

It was seen that the first 11 pilots on the grid started the race with medium tyres, while the remaining pilots chose between medium and hard tyres.

Max Verstappen, who had a good start, tried to attack Carlos Sainz, who was in pole position. However, the Ferrari pilot went off the track and stayed ahead.

After this incident, Sainz was asked to give back his seat and thus Verstappen became the new leader of the race.

Before the first corner, there was contact between Alex Albon and Yuki Tsunoda. The safety car was brought into the race after Tsunoda spun and hit the barriers. Albon also said goodbye to the race due to damage to his car.

Lewis Hamilton passed George Russell in front and rose to fifth place.

Sergio Perez was checked by the stewards for a possible infringement at the start. After the review, the Red Bull pilot received a 5-second penalty.

After 6 laps, the safety car returned to the pits and the race restarted.

Verstappen did not allow Sainz to attack him and increased the gap to 1 second.

However, the attack from Sainz was not delayed and the Ferrari pilot managed to take back the lead by braking late on the 9th lap.

After Verstappen lost momentum, Norris attacked Verstappen, but there was little contact between the two. After the contact, the two went off the track and Charles Leclerc, who was in fourth place, took advantage of this situation and rose to second place.

The commissioners noted this incident between Verstappen and Norris. After inspection, Verstappen received a 10-second penalty for pushing Norris off the track.

It was Russell who won the fight between the Mercedes pilots on the 15th lap, and Russell left his teammate behind and regained fifth place.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso entered and withdrew from the Mexican Grand Prix, the 400th race of his career.

In the 18th round, a fight took place between Sergio Perez and Liam Lawson for the last step of the points table. There was little contact between the two and Lawson stayed ahead.

This fight between Perez and Lawson came under the scrutiny of the commissioners.

Max Verstappen received an extra 10-second penalty for going off the track at Turn 8 to gain an advantage.

From the 29th lap, the pits started and the pilots went into the pits for new tyres. After the pits, the Ferrari drivers remained in the top two, followed by Lando Norris in third and George Russell in fourth.

On lap 43, Mercedes driver Russell reported over the team radio that there were drops of rain on his vision.

As Hamilton approached Russell, the Mercedes drivers were told over the team radio that they were free to race. However, the expected attack from Hamilton did not come for a long time.

Finally, on the 60th lap, Hamilton tried to take the lead, but Russell continued to hold his position.

On the 63rd lap, Charles Leclerc, who was in second place, lost control of the car at turn 17 and went off the track, almost touching the barriers.

Although the Ferrari pilot returned to the track without incident, he was caught by Lando Norris behind him.

On lap 66, Hamilton finally got on the track he wanted and passed Russell to move into fourth.

The pilot who took victory in the 71-lap race was Carlos Sainz, who started the race from pole position.

He was followed by Lando Norris in second place, and Charles Leclerc took the last step of the podium.
