Mexican Footballer Edson Álvarez’s European Transfer Market Interest: Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich

Mexican footballer Edson Álvarez has become one of the most coveted players in the European transfer market, with clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and the Bayern Munich who showed their interest in their services. Despite his outstanding performance at West Ham United, ‘Machín’ has not closed the door on a possible future with the German giants.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the former American player spoke about Bayern Munich’s interest, revealing that he found out about the talks in the final weeks of the summer market. The Mexican expressed his willingness to consider offers in the future, although he is currently enjoying his time with the Hammers.

“I found out about Bayern’s interest in the last few weeks of the transfer market. Anything can happen. I’m always open, but not at the moment. I’m really enjoying my stay at West Ham. I want to play and show my best qualities. But in (next) summer, you never know what will happen,” said the midfielder.

Edson Álvarez also referred to the failed contract with Borussia Dortmund, ensuring that he does not regret the choice he made to the London team where he has become the undisputed starter.

“I made the decision with West Ham after the option with Dortmund fell through. But yes, everything was very, very close. I always think that certain things happen for a reason. Maybe it wasn’t the time, but I’m very happy in West Ham. I made a beautiful transfer,” added the native of Tlalnepantla.

Edson Álvarez left Ajax on time

Ajax Amsterdam faces a sporting crisis, just after the departure of Mexicans Edson Álvarez and Jorge Sánchez. The team that used to dominate the Eredivisie is now in the relegation zone, which has generated an avalanche of criticism from fans, the press and notable former players, including Rafael van der Vaart.

Ajax suffered another defeat in their last match, this time against Utrecht, with a final score of 4-3. In an interview for Studio Voetbal, Van der Vaart, who before playing for teams like Real Madrid and Tottenham and who got his start at Ajax, was very clear in his opinion:

I say what I see, and it’s a shitty team… with shitty players…

Ajax fans are used to seeing their team at the top of the league, so they are also distressed due to the current situation of the Dutch team.
