Mexican feminists hack Morena’s Twitter account in protest

Mexico. The feminist hackers from Feminonymos-Mexico hacked the Twitter account of the Morena party (Movement of National Renewal) on March 8th.

They blocked the social media account for a few minutes in order to make their messages to the incumbent President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Amlo) known in a video.

In their first message, the feminists call on López Obrador to break the political pact with Felix Salgado Macedonio, Morena’s candidate as governor for the state of Guerrero: “Message for President López Obrador, break the pact! Otherwise, the burning will burn must! “read Morena’s Twitter account.

Macedonio charged several complaints of sexual assault and violence against women.

In addition, the investigative journalist, Anabel Hernández, investigated Macedonio’s involvement with the drug cartels “La Barbie” and “Beltrán Leyva” during his tenure as mayor of Acapulco, 2006-2008.

During this time, the international seaside resort had become the trading center of these two drug cartels. Acapulco became a major port for drug smuggling from South America. From there, the drug was transported to the USA, according to Hernández’s research.

The second message from Feminonymos is read in a 1:57 minute long video by a black hooded woman: “We are Mexican women. The time has come to take control. We will no longer watch them idly molest us, kill or rape. “

In Mexico, an average of 12 women are murdered a day. 99 percent of the murders go unpunished. The perpetrators are not only ex or current partners of the victims, but also members of organized crime.

Last September, on the traditional Day of the Dead in Mexico, women in the capital and elsewhere in the country commemorated the victims of feminicides. The numbers had risen again compared to the previous year. According to the police, 2,240 women were killed between January and July 2020, around three percent more than in 2019.
