Mexico City.– This Monday the news of the death of the Mexican dancer of Brazilian origin Gina Montes, famous for her participation in the comedy program La Carabina de Ambrosio, emerged.
According to several media reports, Regina Inés Barbosa Govea, real name of the actress, died on January 27 at her residence in New York City, at the age of 71.
Reports claim that the star succumbed to the cancer she had. However, so far none of her relatives have spoken about it publicly.
After spending much of her adolescence working on television in her native Brazil as a dancer and choreographer alongside her sisters, Gina moved to Mexico in the mid-70s.
It was in 1978 when he managed to join the cast of the comedy program La Carabina de Ambrosio, alongside artists such as César Costa, Xavier López “Chabelo”, Benito Castro and Alejandro Suárez, among others.
There, the dancer achieves fame in Mexico especially for being the protagonist of the entrance and exit curtains of the program, where she appears dancing to the rhythm of the show’s official theme.
