In addition, the city’s Mexican gift shop will be helping New Yorkers celebrate a little Mexican history this Cinco de Mayo.
The place called La Sirena celebrated the date in advance on Saturday.
The event included face painting, traditional dancing, raffles and Mexican street food.
They also raised donations for families in need.
The organizers of that celebration say that although this celebration is Mexican, the Latin community is a fundamental part of this party.
Hanna Flores of Anthem Blue Community Relations says:
“The positive message is that our Latinos have grown. “A lot of migrants…, a lot of celebration, and we are united and strength makes the union. “

A few days ago, another event was held in the same Midtown logo square in Manhattan, before the deadline.
Although it is a relatively small holiday in Mexico, in the United States, it has become an annual festival that for many is an excuse to enjoy the traditions and gastronomic pleasures of the Aztec country.
Making a little history, we must remember that the Mexican army, led by Ignacio Zaragoza, a 33-year-old Texan from Goliad, defeated the French forces in Puebla, a city located about 70 miles southeast of the capital, with half the number of soldiers and fewer means of warfare.
The withdrawal of French troops represented a major victory for the Mexican people, symbolizing the country’s ability to defend its sovereignty against a powerful foreign nation.
Currently, Cinco de Mayo in the United States is primarily a celebration of Mexican-American culture.
