The National Meteorological Service (SMN) announced that this Sunday, August 11, the dog days in the country, which began at the beginning of July, officially ended.
It is worth remembering that the dog days refer to the hottest period of the year, which usually lasts around 40 days, due to the position and distance of the planet from the Sun.
It is characterized by periods of drought and absence or decrease in rainfall, which in turn represents longer periods of heat in some areas of the country.
According to the SMN, so far this month AugustMexicali has ended practically every day as the hottest city in the country, with 43 degrees Celsius being the lowest temperature recorded in the municipality during this month.
Last Sunday, August 4, was the day that recorded the highest temperatures in the municipality so far this month, reaching a maximum of 51.1 degrees Celsius.
It is worth remembering that it was in the month of July, just four days after the heat wave began in the country, when Mexicali broke multiple historical temperature records in the municipality.
It was on Monday, July 8, when maximum temperatures of 52.4 degrees Celsius were recorded, breaking the record for the highest historical temperature for the month of July in the last 75 years.
Temperatures are expected to drop slightly this week, once the heat wave is over, reaching 44 degrees Celsius, while last Friday they exceeded 49 degrees Celsius.
