Metz. “I find it important that people know that I come from the East”

Julien Strelzyk exported Lorraine to the Festival d’Avignon for the fourth time, last July. “Talking about local particularities and expressions in my shows

twenty-four days in a row, people remember and know that I am from the East. I find it important, ”tells us the Messin. “The expression ‘between noon’ makes people laugh, just as the articles in front of first names are impressive for those who don’t come from here. On stage, you can exaggerate that and create very funny moments, ”he continues. In addition to having had a good time in Avignon, Julien Strelzyk was approached by several professionals in the sector… All to good!

His new target? Luxembourg

No more question of hiding its territorial origins: the comedians of the moment are now surfing on this local difference. “Before, I had trouble understanding why some artists wanted to erase their belonging to a region. Dany Boon did just the opposite. Me, I immediately tried things on Metz, the Moselle, the surroundings and the accent, and I saw that it worked well, ”he explains again. Moreover, after a book on local expressions, the humorist will tackle a book on the names of amusing communes in the area.

But Metz and the Moselle are no longer the only source of local inspiration for Julien Strelzyk, who has already opened for Gad Elmaleh and Anthony Kavanagh: the comedian is now attacking Luxembourg! “It’s my new target. The sketches on cross-border workers work really well. We have different notions of money, time… It inspires me. It must be said that for some time, the Messin has been living in Longwy, not far from the border. “I travel thousands of kilometers each month for my shows scheduled throughout France, it’s not a Longwy-Metz that scares me,” he concludes with a smile.
