Crown Princess of Norway Mette-Marit and the crown prince Haakon have repeatedly received criticism over the weeks that the couple has remained Mette-Marit’s son Marius Borg Høibyn about the criminal case very quietly.

Marius, nicknamed “Kohupoj”, made headlines when the police arrested him after a violent incident more than a month ago. He is suspected of assault. The victim of the assault is reportedly Borg Høiby’s girlfriend, and she allegedly received visible marks on the back of her head during the assault. It is known that the police found a knife sticking out of the wall in the apartment where the assault took place

Now there is a stir around the royal house of Norway, writes the Swedish newspaper Expressen. According to the magazine, the crown prince couple Haakon and Mette-Marit have received sharp criticism for having evaded questions related to Mette-Marit’s son.

– I can live with that, shook Crown Princess Mette-Marit in her answer at a media meeting on Thursday.

– Considering the situation, we do not want to comment on the matter. It hasn’t been said that we won’t comment on the matter sometime later, Mette-Marit was content to say.

The reporter also asked the couple at the event when they found out about Borg Høiby’s criminal activities.

– In our opinion, that does not belong here now, Haakon answered.

It has since emerged that Borg Høiby was possibly under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the assault. Borg Høiby has also said that he has mental health problems. His previous girlfriends have since accused him of violent behavior.

Whereas ex-girlfriends have opened up enough, the royal family has remained silent on the matter. Haakon briefly commented on the topic a couple of weeks ago at the Offshore Northern Seas conference.

– This is a serious matter. We are very concerned that everyone involved gets help and support, as well as the necessary people around them, Haakon told the Norwegian media at the time.

Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre commented on the case of Mette-Marit’s son earlier in August and pointed out that many Norwegian families have difficulties.

– I will not comment on the details of this case. I have been following the matter for a few days and I can say that this family has big challenges, which is true for many Norwegian families. Unlike other families, this family is now in the limelight because of it. I can only imagine how big a burden it is, the Prime Minister commented.
