Mets beat Dodgers and tie the Championship Series

Los Angeles. The New York Mets finally entered the dispute for the American League Championship Series and beat the Dodgers 7-3, breaking the astonishing streak of scoreless innings that the Angelenos had.

This victory left the series tied 1-1 thanks to home runs by Francisco Lindor and Mark Vientos.

Puerto Rican Lindor opened the game with a solo home run off Ryan Brasier. Vientos added a grand slam to the five-run rally that New York scored in the second off Landon Knack.

Before Lindor disappeared, Los Angeles went 33 straight innings without conceding a score. On Monday, Jack Flaherty led the Dodgers to a 9-0 victory in the series opener on Sunday night, reaching the milestone.

Sean Manaea started the second game for the Mets and had four zeros. The left-hander allowed three runs — two unearned — and two hits in just over five innings.

Puerto Rican closer Edwin Díaz was credited with a four-out save.

Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers’ superstar, went hitless in his at-bats, with two strikeouts and two walks. They remain hitless with clean bases in their first postseason experience.
