Thionville is a resolutely right-wing city. The outgoing mayor, Pierre Cuny, elected with 41.36% of the votes will play continuity and will have to deal with an opposition made up, on his right, of Patrick Luxembourger (31.75%), and on his left, of Bertrand Mertz (26 , 88%) sunk despite its alliance with EELV.
