As of 6 am today, the average concentration of fine dust nationwide was measured at 183 micrograms per cubic meter.
At the same time, the air quality in the metropolitan area was the worst in the country, with 217 μg per 1 cubic meter in Seoul, 237 in Incheon and 221 μg in Gyeonggi.
The reason why the concentration of fine dust on the second day is ‘very bad’ is because yellow dust originating from the Gobi Desert and the Inner Mongolia Plateau flowed into Korea until yesterday (12th) and fine dust accumulated due to atmospheric congestion.
The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts that the whole country will be affected by yellow dust until tomorrow (14th).
A dry warning is in effect in the metropolitan area such as Seoul and the eastern regions such as Gangwon-do and Gyeongsang-do.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the air is dry not only in areas where dry warnings have been issued, but also in most areas across the country, and requested special attention to prevent various fires.
The dry warning is likely to be lifted tomorrow, centered on Jeju Island and southern regions, and the day after tomorrow (15th) as it rains across the country.
