The Western and Central European Metropolitan Anthony led the festive services for the Nativity of Christ in the Patriarchal Cathedral “St. Alexander Nevsky” in the capital, reported BGNES.

The youngest bishop – Metropolitan Antony, stood at the head of the festive service on Christmas Eve at precisely 6 p.m., replacing the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, who is being treated at the Military Medical Academy (MMA).

Many lay people attended the Christmas Eve service. Among them was the Prime Minister Academician Nikolay Denkov, accompanied by his wife. There were no other representatives of the cabinet. The president didn’t come either.
