The forties indicted for the murders on January 28 in Drôme and Ardèche of a director of human resources and an employee of Pôle Emploi had been hospitalized in early February in a psychiatric unit in the Drôme before being transferred February 4 at Vinatier in Lyon-Bron.
It is within this hospital that the legal hearing took place, which only lasted a few minutes while the judge made sure that the rules were respected. The law regulates any hospitalization under duress (that is to say without the consent of the person concerned) and imposes a control within twelve days.

Long discussion with his lawyer
Gabriel Fortin was taken from the UHSA, a unit specially fitted out for detained persons and taken under police surveillance in an annex building.
He did not express any opposition to this hospitalization requested by the prefect. He was able to speak at length with his lawyer who told the Progress that his client “was gradually opening up”.
As long as Gabriel Fortin is interned, he cannot be questioned by an examining magistrate. These are psychiatric experts who will attest or not to the alteration or abolition of his discernment.
