The Metropolis of Lyon announces that it will pay a subsidy of 300,000 euros to the City of Villeurbanne to support French Capital of Culture, a label won by the municipality for the year 2022. A sum which had been registered a few years ago month, to the budget of this cultural and festive event, endowed with 1 million euros by the State.
This financial aid from the Métropole supports the actions undertaken by the municipality of Villeurbanne in favor of young people, within the framework of Capitale, with the creation in particular of minimixes in schools which makes it possible to bring culture and artistic practice into the 26 school groups in the city. Courses that the PS mayor Cédric Van Styvendael wants to extend until the end of his mandate, or even to perpetuate.

“Being a supporter of Villeurbanne Capitale de la culture 2022 is not only about promoting our policy, recalls Bruno Bernard, the president of the Métropole, in a press release. But it is above all to create a feeling of belonging for all Greater Lyonnais, around highlights that bring us all together and enhance the entire territory”.
Capital of Culture offers throughout the year more than 700 events in the city.
